Final Photoshop

This is my final Photoshop design, I have shown how I have done it but some changes had to be made throughout the design and that it why the final  differs from the other stages.

Maya Textured Marble

In this piece of work I have made a marble and rendered it out using mental ray. I have used the mia_material_x texture in the design to make it more detailed and have more reflection on it. I had used a tutorial on Youtube as reference to help me create this design in Maya.

Bolt and Nuts

This is a creation I had done on Maya of the nuts, bolts and cogs I used in my final piece I had rendered it out. It shows the metal textures that I could use to make the design and also I have went into detail within the design.

Bracelet on Maya

This is a bracelet I had made on Maya in order to help me see how I should create things in my final design.I had done some of this from previous knowledge as I already knew how to add textures onto the polygons and how to manipulate the shapes. I had learned how to do this off a YouTube video by a guy named Mike as he creates great tutorials on how to use Maya.

Maya initial design ideas

This is my initial design ideas for Maya on my final piece. I had considered using them but due to the fact that they were getting to complicated I redid them but made it much simpler.

Mechanical Drawings and Metal relief

Here is the drawings I had done on the metallic observational drawings. I had included a nuts and bolts theme for one of the designs with the photo of a guitar head. I found this task very useful because it had helped to give me some design ideas to my work and also parts I could include in it. I could have added more shading techniques and tonal use to make the work have more detail.

Radioactive Mapping

This is my Radioactive Symbol which I have made in Maya and Photoshop. I have used this design to see the difference in the shapes I could use instead of using a square. I first stared out by looking at the different designs of the radioactive symbol . Then I had started making the design in Photoshop and adding colour to make the diffuse map. After I had added the transparency and specular map to the design to create the reflections and translucent bits on the symbol. Then I had added the normal to the design to create the 3D parts on the 2D image. Finally I had inserted it into Maya and had added all of the mapping.

Earth Maya

This is my experimentation of the solar system on Maya. I had created all of the planets including the sun, also I had added the textures to the planets including the normal map and the glow around the sun to make it more visually detailed. I had rendered the design using Metal Ray and Maya Software to help make the design more realistic.

Testing Mapping on Maya And Photoshop

In this piece of work I have been testing out the different mapping types in Maya and Photoshop. I first had mad my design which was blue circles then, I had added a transparency map which was a simple black and white checker pattern. This was so it was clearly visible where the transparency was in the Maya experiment. Then I had made a Specular map of the design which would show how shiny certain places in the image were, black was matte and white was shiny. After this I had added my bump map to show which part of the object I wanted to make rise or fall in. Finally, I had made my design in Maya and rendered it out. This task has greatly improved my knowledge of Photoshop and also how to create a bump map from this app rather than an external app.

Tap Maya Experiment

Here is my Tap Design that I had made from this image in Maya, I had created this design from on square shape using the extrude tool and by moving the vertex and edges. This had helped me to sculpt the design and make it become a lot more detailed.

Artist Research Christian Alzmann - Context

Artist Statement - Context

What is art? - Context

Constable 1831:
‘Salisbury
Cathedral from
the Meadows’

Yes, it is art because it is a depiction of an area within a field which has a cathedral and a horse carriage. This also, uses tone and shading and is a painting, with paint and some other art tools used.

Duchamp 1917:

‘Fountain’

Yes, in my opinion it is because someone has made this design of a urinal with graffiti on it and can be seen as art.

Jack Vettriano

Yes, this is a painting of two people walking together, it uses a lot of shading and some tone to show the details of the character and the shadow.
Mark Rothko 1955:

‘Yellow,
Orange,
Yellow, Light
Orange’

Yes, I consider this art because it is a painting of 3 block colours. It might be basic and simple but it still might be viewed as art as a lot of art starts with a simple look and slowly develops.
Damien Hirst 1991:

‘The
Physicality
of Death in
the Mind of
Someone
Living’

Yes, it is a paiper mâché of an shark in an aquarium tank. The shark has a lot of detail especially in its mouth and has a realistic look to it.

Nino Migliori 1954:

‘Tuffetore’

Yes, it is a photograph of a man diving into the water. It is because this photograph it complexed as the man it completely horizontal and some people may see it as art for that reason.

Gavin Turk 2004:

‘Pile’

Yes, it is a plastic trash bag made out of material. It looks very realistic and can also replace a black bag without notice.
